I chose not to seek re-election as Mayor in November 2008 due to broadcast code that requires any other candidate equal time on the radio. I served as the host of the David Glass radio program on KSRO radio in Santa Rosa from 2006 until August 7,2008 at which time I left to run a successful political campaign for a seat on the Petaluma City Council.

Highlights of Broadcasting Career

After Graduating from San Diego State University, I spent 9 years broadcasting minor league baseball, high school and college sports and performing in small nightclubs. Then I was offered the opportunity to join the San Francisco Giants broadcast crew in 1981. I remained with the Giants radio crew through the 1985 season. Upon leaving the Giants, I continued to broadcast sports until shortly prior to the birth of my daughter Kelsey in 1990. In 1994 I was the radio voice of the Sacramento entry in the Canadian Football League. During that time I met many of the state legislators.

My most recent broadcast endeavor was one of the most enjoyable of my broadcast career. I had the pleasure of working at KSRO in Santa Rosa and formed a partnership with my producer Mike DeWald that was special in the radio industry. We teamed up to book top notch guests which included Presidents Carter and Clinton, UN Ambassadors, Cabinet Members, numerous presidential candidates, and outed CIA spy Valerie Plame Wilson to name a few. Although I loved doing the program I left the station to return to Petaluma politics winning a seat on the city council in the 2008 election.

Securities License

Upon the birth of my daughter, I focused on eliminating travel for work and changed professions. I am a registered representative (Series 7) and municipal securities principal (Series 53) and am licensed in insurance in the areas of life and long term care. This financial background is a tremendous help in dealing with the challenging financial times we face as a city as well as the challenges individuals are experiencing. This background serves me well in anticipating the depth of challenges we will be facing at city hall and the tools we have available to successfully work our way through these challenges.

David Glass for Petaluma Mayor

I am running for mayor because these are challenging and exciting times in the history of our town. We have opportunities to complete highway 101 improvements, revitalize our local economy, implement transit oriented development and get our traffic and our town moving again. In these economic times it is important to have qualified, experienced leaders and as such I offer a proven track record to the voters of Petaluma and would be honored to have your vote and once again serve our community as its mayor. If the voters honor me with their vote I look forward to working with our new supervisor in the second district to improve our quality of life not only in the south county, but throughout the county.
