The Press Democrat Endorses Mayor David Glass

"There’s no disputing his knowledge of municipal affairs and his devotion to the community. His background in finance, particularly bond financing, also will serve the city well in the coming days, particularly if Measure Q succeeds. But Glass rightly opposes Q, which ostensibly is a funding mechanism for constructing the long-awaited Rainer crosstown connector. Glass is right when he says “a blank check is not the answer.” Read Entire Article!

Dear Petaluma Resident,

As your two-term Mayor, it has been a pleasure to represent you.

I will continue to provide leadership to relieve our traffic congestion by obtaining funding for the Rainier Interchange and Crosstown Connector, fix our streets, and develop a strong local business climate while maintaining our small town charm.

In addition, I have worked hard to protect you, the taxpayer. That is why I am opposing Measure Q, a proposal by my opponent to increase your sales tax by over 11 percent, FOREVER; and it does not restrict where your tax money will be spent. This sales tax increase will make Petaluma’s sales tax rate the highest in Sonoma County.
As you know, today it is even tougher than before to make ends meet.

So, while I have led the way to bring more shopping opportunities for Petaluma, which has increased our city’s revenue to provide essential public safety services, Measure Q will make shopping much more costly for you.

In addition, I will continue to preserve our Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) in its existing place. To expand the UGB, the City Council needs 6 out of 7 votes. I can assure you, Councilmember Teresa Barrett and I are two votes that will secure the integrity of our current UGB. Also, candidate and former Councilmember Janice Cader-Thompson supports maintaining our voter approved UGB.

I am pleased to have received the Press Democrat endorsement.

On November 4th, please help me to continue to protect our community and be fiscally responsible with a vote for David Glass for Mayor and a No Vote on Measure Q!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 707-762-4190.

I look forward to hearing from you.
